Bruins bash Bears in Berkeley
UCLA defied the odds makers who tabbed the Bruins as 15 point underdogs going into the game and defeated the Cal Bears by one point in overtime 76 to 75. The game was as exciting as it could get when Michael Roll picked up a loose ball and nailed a15 footer with 1.9 seconds left in overtime. Cal shot an air ball as the clock ran out and the Bruins left the Bears in ruins on their home court.
UCLA was behind most of the game and only forged to the lead with 6:44 left in the second half, 56 to 54. The lead then went back and forth until UCLA got a 4 point lead 69 to 65 at the 4:11 mark. Then Cal made their run to go ahead by 1 with only 22 seconds left in the game on a 17 foot bank shot by Jamal Boykin.
Jerime Anderson brought the ball up and made a bad pass into the key which bounced off two Cal defenders before winding up in Roll's hands and he won the game with his great jumper with less than 2 seconds left in the game.
