With Kelvin Sampson finished at Indiana after he accepted a buyout on Friday, here are some possible candidates (listed alphabetically) to replace him.

Indiana Coaching Watch List
Steve Alford, New Mexico
CAREER RECORD: 329-189
He's an Indiana prep legend and former Hoosiers All-American who won a national title while playing for Bob Knight in 1987. He also has head-coaching experience in the Big Ten (at Iowa) and is in his first season with the Lobos (21-6 overall, 8-4 in the Mountain West).
Rick Barnes, Texas
CAREER RECORD: 440-224
The well-traveled Barnes has taken three programs (Providence, Clemson and Texas) to the NCAA Tournament. He may be growing tired of playing second fiddle to Mack Brown in Austin.
Tony Bennett, Washington State
CAREER RECORD: 47-13
He's in just his second year as a head coach, but he has turned the Cougars into a force in the Pac-10. It's not the most exciting brand of basketball, but it's a team approach and he's beyond reproach.
Sean Miller, Xavier
CAREER RECORD: 86-36
Miller is 85-36 in three-plus seasons at the Atlantic 10 school and is about to make his third consecutive NCAA appearance. His terrific record and recruiting success will make him a hot prospect this offseason.
Mike Montgomery, assistant to the athletic director, Stanford
CAREER RECORD: 547-244 (college); 68-96 (NBA)
The former Stanford coach also did a stint in the NBA with the Golden State Warriors. Montgomery was Stanford's head man for 18 seasons and led them to 16 postseason berths.
Scott Skiles, former Chicago Bulls coach
CAREER RECORD: 281-251 (NBA)
The Indiana high school legend and former All-American at Michigan State was successful in his first two seasons with the Bulls before general manager John Paxson pulled the plug in December after a rough start to this season. He'd bring a fire and intensity that would be Knight-like.
Kevin Stallings, Vanderbilt
CAREER RECORD: 144-100
The Commodores have been to two Sweet 16s in the past four years and are headed back to the NCAA Tournament this season. Stallings has plenty of Midwest ties, too: He played at Purdue (which could be a strike against him at IU), and his first head-coaching stint was a successful run at Illinois State.
Randy Wittman, Minnesota Timberwolves
CAREER RECORD: 73-144 (NBA)
When does an NBA head coach consider a college program? When he's an Indiana native and an IU alum who won a national title while playing for Knight in 1981.
