UCLA Handles the Beavers

UCLA led most of the way to beat Oregon State 65 to 56 in a game where Tyler Honeycutt rose up above the Beavers to get his third double-double of the season along with five great blocks and four assists. The Beavers got the first bucket of the game and the third but that was the last lead they enjoyed as the Bruins took the lead for good with 18:10 left in the first half.

UCLA expanded its lead to 12 points, 32 to 20 at the 4:28 mark and finished the half with a ten point lead, 36 to 26. Honeycutt had 13 points at the half to lead the Bruins. UCLA shot 53.3 percent from the floor and 30 percent from the 3 point line while Oregon St. shot only 42.3 percent and a miserable 12.5 percent from the 3 point line, going 1 for 8.

UCLA let down some in the second half as the Beavers buckled down in their 1-3-1 zone and started double-teaming the ball as soon as UCLA crossed the half court line. UCLA did not handle this very well and started turning the ball over. UCLA only made four turnovers in the first half but finished with 12. UCLA also got out-rebounded badly 40 to 24, but Oregon St.'s poor shooting allowed the Bruins to get the win.
