UCLA alums host hoops coaches - Part II

UCLA's Head Men's Basketball Coach Ben Howland began his remarks to the South Bay Bruins Alumni by first paying tribute to his coaching colleagues, beginning with his fellow guest speaker, Nikki Caldwell, by extolling her successes this past season.

"She has this great pedigree as a player and assistant coach at Tennessee, under Pat Summit, and then, this season, coached her Bruins to 25 victories. Our guys love to hang out with her players-on the court-and, in fact, whenever we can't find Malcolm Lee, we just go down the hall (at the Morgan Center) and Nikki's staff can usually tell us where he is."

Howland talked of the recent titles won by UCLA in gymnastics and softball, as well as the current College World Series championship run being undertaken by the Bruin baseball team, congratulating those coaches. He hailed the "ball of energy" that epitomizes the nature of Head Bruin Football Coach Rick Neuheisel, who he said "lives and breathes UCLA." He also called UCLA Athletic Director Dan Guerrero "the best AD in the country," for the tremendous success which he has engendered during his tenure at UCLA.
