Washington State preview

Mississippi State will continue its holiday season road swing this afternoon from the Hawaiian islands taking on Washington State at 2 p.m. CST as part of the Diamond Head Classic.

The Bulldogs played in the Bahamas on Saturday and will conclude their journey in Las Vegas on Dec. 29, a road trip spanning some 11,701 miles.

Today marks only the second ever meeting between MSU and the Cougars. The two previously met in the semifinals of the 2008 Legends Classic in Newark, N.J. Washington State got the upper hand in that contest 63-52. Kodi Augustus was tied for the team lead with 10 points in that game.

MSU is 6-10 all-time against Pac-10 opponents and sports a 2-4 record in games played in the 50th state.

The Bulldogs are 7-3 on the year and are coming off their third worst loss under Rick Stansbury. State was slammed 88-57 by Virginia Tech in the Battle of the Atlantis on Saturday.
