MSU extends streak to five over Rebels

STARKVILLE, Miss., - Mississippi State continued its recent dominance over instate rival Ole Miss Saturday downing the Rebels for the fifth consecutive game.

It also marked the second straight season the Bulldogs have swept the series. With the win MSU took over sole possession of second place in the SEC West.

"We knew how difficult a game it was going to be out of respect for how Ole Miss has played and what they've been doing," said MSU head coach Rick Stansbury. "I'm awful proud of how our kids stepped up and responded."

The Bulldogs shot 46.2-percent for the game including burying nine shots behind the arc on the afternoon.

Renardo Sidney led the charge for State with another double-double performance scoring 22 points on 8-of-12 shooting and brought down 12 boards.

"He had some good stats today," Stansbury said of Sidney. "I thought in the second half he pushed through it a little bit. I thought a couple of times he pushed through his gate that he was in over some fatigue and made some plays for us. He caught and finished around that rim."

Ravern Johnson came off the bench to add 16 points in 28 minutes including three treys.
