This and That: UNC-Greensboro

November 16, 2011 - Monday night Georgetown dispatched the UNC-Greensboro Spartans in quick measure, notching an 86-45 dismantling of the latter. The Hoyas are now 2-0 on the 2011-2012 season, while UNC-Greensboro is the inverse at 0-2.

The 7,987 fans in attendance never saw the Hoyas trail, as the game's first bucket was scored by G'Town junior forward Hollis Thompson, its leading scorer with 19 points. His teammate, senior guard Jason Clark chipped in 18 points himself, a stunning 17 dropped in the first half.

The Spartans, coached by Mike Derment got 11 points from sophomore guard Trevis Simpson. Unfortunately, he went 4-12 from the field, one of six on three pointers. His offensive shooting struggles were not unique; 7eam-wise, UNC-Greensboro of the Southern Conference only managed to hit 29.6% of their field goals, 22.7% of three balls.

Following are observations germane to the game, from a G'Town perspective. For the record Georgetown shot 44.8% from the field while mustering 33.3% from three ball range.
