AAU Nationals: Day One

On Thursday the Super Showcase came to a close, and just as soon as it did AAU Nationals began. There aren't many intriguing match ups in pool play, but there is plenty of star power on display. Some of the big time performers on Thursday were Nate Miles, OJ Mayo, and Patrick Patterson.

One of the teams who is expected to make a major run during Nationals is All Ohio. All Ohio picked up two big time players in Delvon Roe and Kosta Koufos. The duo's normal AAU team, King James Shooting Stars, is done for the summer so Roe and Koufos decided to join All Ohio for a run at the National Championship.

While the arrivals of Roe and Koufos received most of the attention before the game, it was the play of Miles that raised some eye brows during the game. Miles had five threes in the first half of the game alone, on route to a 20 plus point performance.

With Miles talent has never been the question. On the floor he has complete game. He can hit the three ball, get to the rim, he has a good handle, and when he wants to be he is a good defender. As long as he has his head in the right place Miles is one of the absolute premier players in the 2008 class.
