Holiday Tournament Preview

The Holiday tournaments are upon us and some top Minnesota talent has spread themselves across the state ready to put on a three day showcase. If you want to see Hopkins and Gopher commit Blake Hoffarber you have to go to Hamline this week and 2008 commit Andrew Brommer will be at the Hastings Tournament with Rosemount.

Hoffarber and Hopkins take on Minneapolis Roosevelt. If you are going there to see see players, watch the future Gopher as well as his very talented sophomore teammates Mike Brogghammer, a mobile 6-foot-7 power forward, Raymond Cowles, a strong and athletic 6-foot-3 wing, and Marcus Williams, a quick 6-foot-0 point guard. Also in that tournament is class AA power Maple River taking on St. Paul Central, Washburn facing Park and St. Thomas Academy playing St. Paul Como Park.

Gopher commit Al Nolen Jr. and Minneapolis Henry is not listed as playing in any local tournaments so the next game they will play is against Hopkins on January 4th. Looking for the duo of Wisconsin commit Jordan Taylor and Armond Battle? They play with Benilde-St. Margaret's who is not listed as play in a holiday event. But they do soon play at the Target Center on the 6th of January at noon. That will be the Gatorade Shootout event featuring six games with teams from around Minnesota. Catch that preview here at GopherIllustrated before the games are played in two weekends.

Up in Orono, two of the Rivals top 100 recruits will be in action in the Orono Tournament. Jon Leuer and Orono start with Park Center in their round robin game while Kansas commit Cole Aldrich and Bloomington Jefferson will play Henry Sibley. These teams will all play each other so Aldrich and Leuer will face one another.
