Will Tubby make Badger commits think twice?
Earlier this year, Wisconsin picked up early commitments from the top two ranked juniors in the state of Minnesota. Princeton center Jared Berggren and Benilde-St. Margaret's point guard Jordan Taylor pledged to Bo Ryan but with Tubby Smith taking over the Minnesota job, will this pair take another look at the home school?
Jordan Taylor, the three star 6-foot-1 point guard out of Benilde-St. Margaret's, led his team to the class AAA title game this year but fell one game short of reaching the goal of a state title. "The state tournament was a lot of fun and a great experience for the guys on our team," Jordan Taylor said. "Next if we get back there we will be ready for what's to come. I think we were a little shocked by playing in that atmosphere in the Target Center but the whole experience was a lot of fun for me and the guys." Jordan averaged 19.5 points per game this year with a high of 41 against Spring Lake Park.
While Taylor had success with his late season runs, Berggren's season came to an abrupt halt much earlier then expected. "We finished 17-9 but we ended up losing in the first round of our section," said Jared. "We had the two seed in our section and we ended up playing Big Lake at home and they are in our conference. We beat them the first two teams but when you play a team for a third time like that, especially in the playoffs, it's a whole different game and they got the best of us."
