The Weekly Spin: Ezeli's stock hits surreal

Everyone knows that the 2007 Final Four was made up of Georgetown, UCLA, Ohio State, and eventual NCAA Champion Florida. But what most people don't know is that three of those four programs just offered the same prep prospect this past week. As the The Weekly Spin documented last week, perhaps the hottest rising hoopster in the country is Sacramento standout Festus Ezeli.


At the Cal Basketball Elite Camp three weeks ago, the 6-foot-11, 240-pound Ezeli was quickly the first player we noticed. His ability to stay grounded and play with his feet defensively made him intriguing initially. Then when he rolled in about three jump hooks over 2008 center standout, former Berkeley (Calif.) high center Matt Simpkins, our curiosity was peaked. While plenty of big men in both the 2008 and 2009 classes were present - the aforementioned Simpkins, Terrence Jennings, Brendan Lane, and Reeves Nelson, it was Ezeli that stood the tallest.
